Uni.lu is among the top 24% in QS World University Rankings 2025. In the 2022 U-Multirank, the Uni.lu maintains excellent ratings (score A) in Research publications, Citation rate and Top cited publications, among others. Uni.lu is 20th in the 2024 Times Higher Education Young University Ranking. The Department of Physics & Materials Science hosts 14 research groups working on problems ranging from physics of solid-state, liquid crystals, or living matter, to non-equilibrium thermodynamics, processes in solar cells, quantum mechanical effects, data science, and machine learning.
Uni.lu has access to an HPC environment and High Density/BigData storage. Uni.lu also has excellent facilities and infrastructures to host and offer a suitable environment for training and transfer of knowledge to the experienced researcher. Early-stage and experienced researchers are offered training opportunities free of charge, organised by Uni.lu in partnership with Luxinnovation and the national funding agency (FNR). Transferable skills courses include good scientific practice, grant writing, media training for researchers, leadership skills, entrepreneurship etc.
