CAFE-BIO

The European Doctoral Network "A Coherent Analysis Framework for Emergence in Biological Systems" (CAFE-BIO) aims to understand dense, many-body systems with complex interactions under noisy, non-equilibrium biological conditions. Through the PhD research projects conducted within this programme, we will build a unified framework for studying such systems by integrating approaches from statistical physics.

We have recruited 15 excellent Doctoral Candidates across 12 leading European partner institutions to a wide range of PhD research projects, with applications to phenomena at multiple levels of biological organisation from subcellular machinery to macroscopic populations, using novel combinations of diverse modelling and analysis techniques. All projects involve a period of study at a partner institution, and several also include a secondment with a non-academic partner. All Doctoral Candidates will participate in a training events provided by the network, leading to a PhD degree. These positions will be taken up on 1 Sept 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Please note that interviews have now taken place and offers made to the successful candidates.
