Coordinator

The CAFE-BIO Doctoral Network is coordinated by Prof Richard Blythe at the University of Edinburgh, UK.

Supervisory Board

The Doctoral Network is governed by a Supervisory Board, that comprises all Lead and Co-Supervisors, along with representatives from the Non-Academic Partners and the Doctoral Candidates in the network. The Supervisory Board is chaired by the Coordinator.

The Supervisory Board is responsible for oversight of the network as a whole.

Work Package Leaders Group

Day-to-day management tasks are overseen by the Work Package Leaders Group, comprising:

  • Richard Blythe (Edinburgh, UK) – Management

  • Peter Sollich (Göttingen, Germany) – Recruitment

  • Demian Levis (Barcelona, Spain) – Research theme: Novel physical interactions in biological systems

  • Silke Henkes (Leiden, Netherlands) – Research theme: From microscopic interactions to macroscopic collective effects

  • Chase Broedersz (Amsterdam, Netherlands) – Research theme: Data-driven modelling and experimental applications

  • Stefan Klumpp (Göttingen, Germany) – Skills training

  • Thomas Speck (Stuttgart, Germany) – Dissemination, impact and public engagement

The Work Package Leaders Group is chaired by the Coordinator. Meetings of the Work Package Leaders Group are attended also by relevant administrators.

Recruitment Panel

The Recruitment Panel is chaired by the Recruitment Work Package Lead with the three Research Theme Leaders as additional members. This panel will oversee the initial ranking of applications, subsequent interviews held with prospective supervisors and will determine which positions will be offered to which candidates.
