About The Sapienza University of Rome
The Sapienza University of Rome, is a public research university located in Rome, Italy. It was founded in 1303 and is as such one of the world's oldest universities, and with 122,000 students, it is the largest university in Europe. Due to its size, funding, and numerous laboratories and libraries, Sapienza is a global major education and research centre. The university is located mainly in the Città Universitaria (University city), which covers 44 ha (110 acres) near the Campo Verano cemetery, with different campuses, libraries and laboratories in various locations in Rome.
The project will be carried out at the premises of the Physics Department of the University of Rome La Sapienza. The department is composed by about 120 faculty members, covering the major aspects of modern physics, both fundamental and applied. The well-recognised Ph.D. school Vito Volterra, hosted by the department, offers courses on the most advanced aspects of condensed matter physics. Condensed matter and statistical mechanics have a long tradition of excellence in the Department. All guests of the Department (including the CNR hired DC) will have access to the department facilities, including e-mail accounts, access to the library, open access to electronic journals and, naturally, appropriate office and laboratory space. The Department also provides support for hosting computer and experimental resources. UNIROMA has been recognised with the HR Excellence logo.
