About Institute of Physical Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences
IChF is an independent research entity acting under the Polish Academy of Sciences research network. We belong to the top 5% of the scientific units in Poland in terms of research excellence (A+). IChF is an awardee of the “HR Excellence in Research”, confirming the best standards in recruiting scientists, a thriving research environment & excellent working conditions. IChF hosts 31 research groups (264 researchers, 30% foreigners). IChF spun out 4 innovative companies: Scope Fluidics (microfluidic devices for medicine), Curiosity Diagnostics (digital PCR), Fluence (cutting-edge femtosecond laser), BacterOMIC (antibiotics susceptibility panel). IChF participates in the “Warsaw PhD School in Natural & Bio-Medical Sciences” (Warsaw-4-PhD), a collaboration of 9 research institutions from the Warsaw area.
The Soft Condensed Matter group, in which the student will be hosted, has access to the servers of Warsaw’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling. The Institute has also fully equipped biological labs for cellular and bacterial research, and automated epi-fluorescent microscopes for imaging bacteria and cell cultures. The institute hosts several other biological and statistical physics groups that closely interact with each other and organise meetings for early-career researchers in soft-, statistical- and biological physics. It also runs a doctoral training school together with other Warsaw-based research institutes, that offer a range of courses in physics, chemistry, and biology.
